Description
Students were invited to a moment of reflection, where they were allowed to think about themselves with recognition and acceptence. The school psychologist/English teacher shared two different activities where students could see that we can make different choices but we are all important and unique: Game of equals and Someone very special. The first game aim was, by giving two options to the class, let them choose their preferences, getting to know that our friends can have the same or different characteristics but they all are important. The second activity consisted of looking to a magic box, that had someone very special inside, the students should look carefuly and think of two characteritics of that person. The box had a mirror inside and students had to think about themselves.
Then students filled in the pages of their journals related to the activities:
– Draw a picture of yourself
– Conscious thoughts.
Aims
Connect with yourself.
Help students to think about their feelings.
Value yourself as unique.
Recognize that we are different and being different is good.
Feedback on activity
The students shared a moment of self knowledge getting to stop for a while and think about themselves, their choices and characteristics. They dah the opportunity to see that positive thoughts and feelings help to get through less pleasant moments.
